i will say he's adjusting to your lighting and parameters so give him some time.
With a good 25 gal water change yesterday along with sucking up all the cyano, my tanks looking good again. I've been sugar dosing a lil and no3 has FINALLY lowered to about 50 or 60 ppm. I no I still have to get better but, I've NEVER seen it go down yet. It's always the same as before or higher.
My koa, the condy nem moved ;) makes me so happy. I was starting to wonder!
Everything's getting better!

Think he looks comfy?

Okay, I'll try to go in order.
Nitrates at 80 is WAAAAY to high.. As mentioned before, Mr. Condi won't like that at all. As will all inverts.
Nitrates in a tank holding inverts (nems, shrimp, crab, corals etc.) Should be single digits. Some will argue a bit more, bit I digress...
I would trust API as far as I could throw my car... Just my opinion, but still...
A dead spot on the surface won't affect Nitrate. More of a gas exchange situation, but still important.
30 gals in a 125 would be close to the ratio of what I personally do weekly. I think if you could do that for a few weeks, you would see a marked improvement in your Nitrate levels. So you have a comparison, I do 55 gals on my 240 weekly. Some may argue this point, but as I mentioned earlier, what works for one may not work for another... At the end, all boils down to water quality.
As far as the "sugar theory" that is a type of carbon dosing. Sugar is a type of carbon as is vodka and Bio pellets. I think a basic understanding of how YOUR tank works with bio load etc. with a regular water change schedule, high quality test kits and a bit of patients, will go much further than adopting a fancy biological method you may not fully understand. I am not meaning to pick on you,or demean carbon dosing all, but there is quite a bit more to carbon dosing than dumping a bit of sugar, vodka or whatever in the tank.
Hope this didn't sound like preaching, or a long winded diatribe...
Keep the questions coming. I am more than sure many here will add (or possibly contradict) everything I and others have said. Keep in mind. LOOK at your tank and inhabitants. They will more often than not tell you how they feel... Work from sound basic principles, don't rush to judgment. You'll be fine. So will your tank...
Mr condi is looking better! I did do a 25 gal water change yesterday. He shrunk a lil. Maybe cooler water? Mind you, it wasn't freezing! if there is one thing I have experienced quite a bit, it's water changes . They may not of brought my nitrates down where they should (im getting there) but I have had casualties so I've tweaked my procedure!
I have played around with a lil sugar. Between sugar, bigget water change, removing 90% algae, adding 3 lbs goood live rock, my nitrate Is around 55ppm. Down from 80 on sunday!
I no there may be to many factors they're to suggest was the cure of my no3. From here to the end of the week, I will only be playing with a lil sugar to see if that's the cause.
Since my tank is so new, like I said before I haven't had no3 go down, maybe my tanks just finally getting a good cycle going ;) yaa

For sure! Thanks! I'd been only doing 15 gals. Bumping it to 25 made a big difference (along with an additional hour of my time ;/ hehe)
now that I have clean water, the only thing I'll be doing is a lil sugar. Just to see if that's the cause of decrease no3.
now if I can get my anthias to eat, I'll be golden! I no they change sex. Do u know anything of that? Like she could be going through that and not eating?

continue with the water change you have cyano too
Yes! I was changing 15 a week but it wasn't budging no3. That's 1 thing I've corrected. The cyano I've had (my no3 has been 80!) I suck it up while doing water changes. The messy look is from me messing with it and it scattered :/ I'm hoping to beat that with the no3 lowering. I did the 25 gal water change yesterday and the algae left is what I couldn't get sucked up in that time. (Other than the hair algae at top of rocks)

im fighting the good fight against cyano now so dont let it get out of hand. maybe increase the volume of the wc to 20 gallon or 25 gallon if you have the water tank for it.

Some times doing a wc makes it worst. When you do a wc dose bacteria also with it.
Gotcha thanks. Ive been Trying to work with what I got at the moment. Hopefully the filter being less full of foam or materials help wit that right?
And I read a skimmer depletes alk. And I was reading more on the calcium. I've never actually tested for them particularly yet. Magesium help wit that I hear. I'll figure it out. I'm getting a good start from these forums

On the move again. He has now gotten himself intertwined in my dead coral decor. I don't want to mess with him but, as of now I'm still unsure of how much he could actually move around himself. I turned off the far right power head so he wasn't getting blown into the coral more but, will he get out of this himself?

Ok broke down and flipped coral upside-down. He's now attached himself to another rock. But,! I caught my 6 line nipping at the end of his tenicals. And it appears he spit out the brine shrimp I fed him earlier (i say this cuz it didn't look like a goo from his poop so I hear. It was all compact and then broke up) and all my fish were eating it...
Any suggestions? I though the 6 line was supposed to get his poisonous wrath or are they not affected? If she keeps doing it I'm taking the condy back :( already a pain.

Ok well that response doesn't sound like he's gunna die tomorrow so turning that color (it's mainly after attempting to feed him) isn't necessarily bad..? I wanted that angle to see his foot too. Could u verify what kind of anemone he is? My LFS actually told me he wasn't exactly an anemone that it just looked like them...idk what that means...
I've seen you cyano thread, you couldn't beat it without chimicals?! Did u try? Is it possible? From me researching I'd have to say it's pretty rough to cure. I don't want to waste my money and or put that stuff in my tank :/

im actually on the winning side. the direction said one dose and should be good. in on my 2nd try and the cyano is finally lifting. after tomorrow night im going to do another water change of 50 gallon and siphon out as much as i can. can do one more treatment with the last of it. bought the 900 gallon one and did recommend dose did nothing. then i did 2 double dose. i have enough for 1 recommended dose left and will see what happen my tank pretty much lights off for the week now. i will have to slowly acclimate my corals again to the light. also i did lose 1 chalice.

good luck.
