That looks terrible man. This is enough for me to never frag without eye protection.
I did it tonight. Not 10 min after looking at Esteban's latest eye photo, I got a hammer, chisel, and razor blade and fragged up some Bam Bams and Cherry Charms for a guy that came over. The whole time I was doing it I was thinking what an idiot I am. Lol

While working for Boeing some time ago I got a drop of Skydrol (aerospace hydralic fluid) in my eye while inspecting a landing gear. Wasn't so bad really; not nearly as bad as it sounds.
My "checkup" at the medical clinic however turned out to be one of the worst experiences of my life.
treatment consisted of placing a suction-cup-and-water-line type device directly on my eyeball and flushing it with fluid for nearly an hour. Imagine if you will, being forced to swim under water for an hour without the ability to blink your eye. Yea, it was pretty much just like that. More fun than a human being should be allowed to have.

Same process was applied to me. The eye was okay it's the brain freeze that got to me. Woke up today with more of the same, blurred vision, headache and dizyness. Gonna go get a second opinion. Gotta admit this sucks Hobbit nipples.

As much as I'd like to forget this awful incident, I need to inform those who
May go through this at one point in their reefing.

Yesterday I went to an opthomologist who made me wait almost 3 hours for a chance to see him.
I asked for a refund but I was quickly rushed in to see the doctor.
The mood changed when he looked at me. He went from happy to stressed to panicked.

I was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer.

Basically County diagnosed me right, but since I was given a follow up a week later ( you are suppose to see a specialist daily after any trauma to your eye.)
I grew resistant to the antibiotic and hence grew a bigger deeper infection inside the cornea.

To mention how bad this is, do a search on corneal ulcers. Worse case blind, best case scarring with some vision loss.

I got a shot of a cipro to the eyelid. Let me say this was the most painful shot I have ever experienced ever. And I've been shot inside Open wounds before while I was in shock. Like a pain burning inside the bone.

They took cultures before this and I was rushed to get a special 15x potency of 2 antibiotics that is one drop every 1 hour until this heals. Has to be kept refrigerated and so I'm stuck indoors.

My vision is better than it has been, still blurred in my right eye.

I thank all of the reef brothers that showed concern and have been checking in on me. It means a lot to know people in this hobby take care of their own.

Best,

E

Wow Esteban, im sorry to hear this news. I hope you can pull through this rather quickly and look at this as a lesson learned and nothing else. I hope this wont drive you away from this beautiful hope also.

Hey man,

First off, i am sorry this happened to you. I hope you will come through it with a full recovery. But seriously, thanks for sharing. With out a doubt I would have gone blind. No way I would have waited in a doctors office for 3 hours! Hope you start getting better mang

Hey bud Glad to hear it's a little better today. When I text you yesterday I was concerned. Keep us all posted on your recovery. This should be a strong lesson to us all. When you feel up to it post some more pics if you can. Take it easy and focus on healing.

Well I went in for a check up and the actual vision test I was worse, I only got the large E right. But it's weird I can see other detail better than last week.

All in all I'm better but I have freak side effects, like painful pressure in my eye and on my head. Like sinus but 20x more painful. The doctor has no idea what it's about.
He says full recovery in 3-4 weeks.

I drove today but mostly with one eye closed. No issues just couldn't do it for more than a 15 minute drive.
