As much as I'd like to forget this awful incident, I need to inform those who
May go through this at one point in their reefing.
Yesterday I went to an opthomologist who made me wait almost 3 hours for a chance to see him.
I asked for a refund but I was quickly rushed in to see the doctor.
The mood changed when he looked at me. He went from happy to stressed to panicked.
I was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer.
Basically County diagnosed me right, but since I was given a follow up a week later ( you are suppose to see a specialist daily after any trauma to your eye.)
I grew resistant to the antibiotic and hence grew a bigger deeper infection inside the cornea.
To mention how bad this is, do a search on corneal ulcers. Worse case blind, best case scarring with some vision loss.
I got a shot of a cipro to the eyelid. Let me say this was the most painful shot I have ever experienced ever. And I've been shot inside Open wounds before while I was in shock. Like a pain burning inside the bone.
They took cultures before this and I was rushed to get a special 15x potency of 2 antibiotics that is one drop every 1 hour until this heals. Has to be kept refrigerated and so I'm stuck indoors.
My vision is better than it has been, still blurred in my right eye.
I thank all of the reef brothers that showed concern and have been checking in on me. It means a lot to know people in this hobby take care of their own.
Best,
E
