I concur, but it is very difficult to read the tone of someone's voice via Internet. Being angry and aggressive to me doesn't call for being banned and if it even does without a warning to correct ones behavior seems extremely harsh. There is nothing constructive in banning someone just like that. As a teacher Over the last 10 years I never once have resorted to punishing anyone for any sort of behavior rather talking it through and focusing on what was done wrong and can be done to change that next time. Also he doesn't run around doing this to everyone rather just you, I mean this in the nicest way but why would you even engage him if you know how he will react. Your a smart sincere generous reefer but I have to say almost seems like he was bated.

I definitely respect your insight Adam. However you are comparing Children and Adults. Adults need to be held to higher standards. You really think a warning would have been taken seriously with someone that acts in that way? Adults very rarely change their mentality . Im not saying Im a saint either. Its a tough fact, but people rarely change. I do know that I would never talk to someone in that way over a debate over something as silly as a air stone causes excess algae.

Ive banned some in my day... and some that Ive since come to regret. a big reason why I gave up that responsibilty.

I'm giving an example on how I believe matters should be resolved regardless of age. Iv been trained in conflict revolution to the max and if Something so simple can be done with kids than that should be the very first thing in conflict resolution with adults given the oppertunity. I agree adults should always be held to a higher standard. That being said adults also shouldn't have to suffer consequences based upon a argument in a public forum. He's being treated like a child,he should be able to voice his opinion without fear of consequences. Banning someone based on colorful language is a very dangerous precedent. Clearly I'm barking up the wrong tree so ill walk away from this, just know that I firmly believe that no single person should be able to ban another without some sort of commitee or process to make such a harsh judgement. I know mods don't get paid and its a huge headache, iv had convos with Chris about how much it sucks but that by no means validates the choice to kick someone of a forum out of a community for being quick to anger. On another thread about red sea salt tempers flared names were called tempers flared yet not one person was kicked. I know its not the same but there isn't even a warning here?!!?!?!? Thats just crazy to me.

LAreefguy I agree with most of what you are saying. I just dont want be a part of a community where I am afraid to be attacked personally for questioning something with legimate conversation. I have the right to ask questions, or debate a particular topic... and the other person has the right to dissagree and provide evidence to the contrary. I by no means know everything and would never claim such. I can definitely admit when Im wrong and have done so in the past.

I agree as well and I 2 have made mistakes and am more than willing to admit when I'm wrong. That being said you know that scout has a thing with you, why wouldn't you just leave it alone? Just doesn't seem 2 add up to me. Pretty much set him up to be kicked out knowing how he would react and that my friend is also very wrong. We can move on from this but based on your status with in our reefing forum I suggest maybe sitting down and talking about a 3 strike rule of sorts. Give people a chance rather than banning them without warning. I'm extremely disheartened by the situation. People deserve warnings maybe 1 week ban first time, 1 month ban second time and life time for a third offense, but i am shocked that people can just jump the gun and ban him.. He may be an angry fella but he's a darn good kid. People make mistakes instead of sending them away we need to embrace it and use it to teach a lesson. Except the dentist from Minnesota he should should be taken out back and beaten:)

I should have known better. But I was legimately interested in the why. Maybe the mods will reconsider.

The ban will be lifted in a couple weeks
Tapatalk only gives me one option when that comes up and I change it later. You may not agree with it and that's OK, we will never please everyone.

who cares... i've been banned so many times... LOL... he'll get over it...

some people learn, some don't... oh well... that's why there are mod's... sucks for the mods here because they are all freaken awesome people... so it's harder for some of "us" to see them ban someone... i'm sure it's hard for them too... but whatever... who cares... if you didn't get banned, it's really none of your business...

haha...

Lol its all our business to make sure we do what we can in our community to help ensure its longevity. From the smallest things to being mods. I just had a concern for punishment fitting the crime. That's lol just all my humble opinion.

when the sump on my fish rack's get's low and shoots bubbles in my tank i get alot more algae growth on and around the bubbles :O
i dont know why but it happens.
Same affect on an inflow algae scrubber. You can run just a light and grow algae, but add an air stone in it and the algae will grow like no other.
