so Im going to be setting up a 225G reef. I loved My Lee-mar 120 but 4 feet wasn't cutting it. I really missed my 150 so I got a 72X30X24 It's a little taller than I would like it to be but I can live with that. My skimmer and CA reactor are rated up to 300G so I don't have to upgrade those. As far as lighting I had to order 72 inch AI rails and I'm going to have to buy one more Sol Blue.

I got this tank from a reefer on this forum. I had to haul the tank from Huntington Beach to Riverside... It was an adventure to say the least!

yup, came down the 22-55-91 with this thing! it was scary!

took some muscle between my brother in law and I to unload this beast

but we finally got it inside

The guy I got this from had it outside during the recent storms so the stand and canopy got trashed... gotta love MDF!!! I don't trust the stand so i decided to build a new one. I kept going back and forth between metal and wood and finally decided on metal. I went out and got me a new toy!!!

and today I went and bought 3 20 foot lenghts of 1.5 tubbing with 120 wall.

Here is the old stand

I'm going to try to start cutting tomorrow and hopefully I pick up the welder on sunday. I want to have the tank on this by next week end!

:car:
hahaha thanks man, you would have gotten me too! I was too busy looking back to make sure the tank wasnt about to fall out :a01:

I'd be so nervous to drive that truck with all that cargo, especially with the stand, tank, and canopy stacked on top of each other LOL.

Did some cutting today! I'm so glad I decided to get knee pads!!! I can't believe I was actually thinking about doing this bared knee.

I only did the bottom and top frame today

and here they are put together

The rectangle is the bottom one and the other one is the top. I'm going to try and cut the legs and have every thing ready to weld by friday... My only day off this week...

So after taking a day off from this build I finally got to welding today I was only able to weld and clean the bottom frame, not digging the lack of time I have to work on this

So the welder that my uncle gave me wasn't working for me so I went out and got me a Forney. Here is the Frame all lined up and ready fro welding.

All welded!

All cleaned up!

Here's a close up of one of the corners

and now next to the 225!

thanks for following

Did more welding today. MAN! it's taking longer to grind than it is to set up and weld! I might need a new wheel... Anyway this is what I got done today

and here it is the top frame all welded up

I still have 3 sections to grind! I lost daylight =/ hopefully I will finish this stand tomorrow so I can start coating it.

Got the tank on the stand today!

had to bring the stand in through the window

this time It took 4 of us to position the tank on the stand, plywood, and foam.

and there it is now

Tomorrow I'm going to move it to the right and center it. We don't really use that door so it will be blocked. I'm also going to have to take down my QT tank. This DT is HUGE!!!

Dude, this was A LOT of work! I felt like I was working on this stand for months!!! haha I was patient though and didn't hurry it. I dunno man, I had to buy all the equipment so it would have been cheaper to just have it made... but now I know that I can do this and I learned a lot from this project

Make a few stands for reefers Amd
You'll have money to fill that tank up with corals

wow everardo... great job...

but more importantly... what's in that cage in the background outside...? behind the pulsar...

also... if you weren't going to use the stand, you should've just chucked it at the on ramp before taking it all home...

and btw... your house feels very "homey" to me in the pics... like if that's my uncle's house or something...
