I'm using a R/O BH-2000 on my 55. Used to be a hang-on, now its modified and in the sump. Love this skimmer, and it isn't loud at all.

IMO, Salifert kits have been pretty reliable. I'm currently using am API kit that has been giving consistent and reliable results. May be a dumb question, but are you testing in the same spot, preferably away from return lines, to eliminate any variances?

How old is the tank that you transferred the skimmer to/ how heavy is the bioload? If there isn't a large bioload to add DOC's, combined with your recent water change, there might not be much to skim. After large water changes, my skimmer will stop producing foam for a while, then start up again...
