I agree with the posts regarding separation. How long is your drive? My gut feeling is you should be just fine with this transfer.

For my purposes, the Apogee does the job. Analyzing and locating the appropriate locations for coral based on their light needs. As far as drilling down to the blue spectrum, not sure as it's been a moot point in my experience. But again, I'm just using it as a guide tool for placement.

In my experience Iwaki have been basically bulletproof. Maybe a bit on the noisy side though.

I've had negative experiences with LED's failing after 18 months to a year. Not sure if it was the brand and product, (Current USA TrueLumen Pro Strips) I eventually migrated to T5's and Halides.

I'm thinking 800 Watts as well. Although I don't have to heat my tank in my 2nd floor apt. Now cooling it is another thing altogether....

I always like to error on the big and it seems like a lot of folks agree, but remember the bigger the tank, the more you're going to pay for everything... Maintenance, livestock, gear, materials... Go big, if you can swing it, but remember the cost factor down the road.

One of the best solutions is Rowaphos in a media reactor. It's expensive compared with GFO, but in the end it works wonders.

The instructions provided in the user manual are not very good. Try looking up or googling "The Unofficial Apex User Guide" You may find it easier than you thought. Good luck.
