So I've added some corals but mostly frags and dying pieces that I'm trying to save. I get a real enjoyment out of watching corals come back to life. The only issue I have is that I was getting some hair algae. Don't know where it came from but it started spreading. I know I need to change my rodi filters which are reading around 5-7. And/or my t5s need to be replaced.
Now with that said, my phosphate readings were at .10 and they've been dropping slowly but steady. It is now at .04. The hair algae is no longer spreading and not really growing. I pulled what I could with my hands and it no longer continues to grow in that spot. I was stumped but I realized one thing... The algae in the refugium is very thick. Its thicker than it looks and has rooted itself into the sand. The roots stick to the glass like vines on the freeway walls. The chaeto I had diminished and has almost died off. I trimmed both the chaeto and the other algae a week ago down to softball sizes and look at the difference in growth. Im thinking about just pulling out the chaeto for good.
Oh and for reference my fuge(this section) is 20x20x19. Filled to about 17" of water before it overflows to the right.
