I mix half Red Sea Pro and half Red Sea regular. I get close to 10 dkh. Cal comes in at 350ish and Mag at 1200. I throw in a little Cal and Mag to get to 400ppm and 1320 ppm. Good to go.

The Remora hob is what I use on both of my 28 gallon JBJ's. It flows in to the center sump chamber and the pump fits in the chamber next to it. The smallest pump that I could find is an 800 Rio. I have had no issues.

The mandarin is a great choice. The only issue is keeping them fat and happy. I killed three because I couldn't feed them enough. It may be that I am a bad care giver but mandarins are difficult. A refugium is a good idea. The anemones may also be a challenge for an unseasoned tank. Again...

I keep the Mags at 1340 and Cal at 450. I have variances but it's nominal. If you have had PH swings, keeping Cal, Mag, and dKH consistent will fix it. I don't even check PH anymore.

If it's not broke don't fix it. I use half Red Sea Pro and Red Sea regular. It gets dKH at 10. Right where I need it to be to maintain stability. The less I dose, the better success I have had.

If you are not using clamps to secure the ends of the tube to the Remora and/or pump, it could be weakening the flow. I had this issue but it was after about 4 months of use. Hoses get more rigid and pump vibration causes issues. I would clean the maxi and secure the tube ends with clamps...
